How
did you get the idea for this cd?
SEX:
12 Music Vignettes began as a joke late one night in the studio. Craig
Spirko and Deborah Beers were punchy and getting silly when they had
the inspired idea to record a soundtrack for an imaginary adult film.
"Come for Dinner" was finished that evening. In the weeks that followed,
whenever there was a lull in the studio, Craig would play the tape
just for grins for whoever was around. Everyone who heard it wanted
a copy! Soon cassettes were pirated all over the city. We realized
that this recording, which began as a lark, deserved to be its own
CD.
Can
I buy SEX in stores?
We
proud to announce that we are now distributed nationwide through MDI
Distribution. That means our CD is available in many stores, including
Tower
Records, Virgin Records, Wherehouse Music, and CD Warehouse.
If your local store doesn't have the CD, request that they order a
supply from MDI. (They'll know who MDI is.) If you can't find it locally,
you can order the cd via via this web site or www.broadcast.com.
I don't live in the
United States. How
can I order your cd?
You
can order two ways: One with credit card through
www.broadcast.com,
or by mailing a traveler's check or money order to Twelfth House
Records, P.O. Box 7954, Jacksonville FL USA. See the Order
the CD page for more details. CDs are $14.99 each. Wholesale pricing
is available for large orders. Please contact Craig
Spirko for information. The only difference for orders outside
of the U.S. is the additional shipping and handling charge of $5.00.
Will
there be more SEX?
Because
we are independent musicians trying to sell enough CDs to cover our
expenses, we have to first focus on selling more cds. Future plans
include dance remixes on a few of the existing songs. If everything
goes well and this cd sells, we'll definitely release SEX II. You
can help us with your purchase of SEX, and by telling everyone you
know about the cd. It also helps to join our mailing list (go to the
bottom of this page) and to send your comments to us via
email.
I've
heard rumors that the sex on this cd is real. Is this true?
I
can neither confirm nor deny this rumor. All I can say is, at least
one song is real.
How
did the artists think of the stories? Each artist had a different
way of doing this. Craig recorded all of the instruments ahead of
time, so that the artist had music to listen to and be inspired by.
Deborah is so good at ad-libbing, so she simply listened to the music
and then just did what came naturally! Stu, Kimberly, Brenda and Jennifer
ran through the music and ad-libbed a few times to get an idea of
what they wanted to say. Tracey actually had "London" written down
long before recording as this was a dream she had. "Heaven" was composed
while listening to the instrumentals. Once the tracks were recorded,
Craig named the songs based on what the vocalist recorded.
